New patent filed by Apple for "Transparent Texting"

We hear a lot of advisory on what a distraction it to use the phone while driving, texting in particular. However if you have paid attention to the hustle and bustle among the road works around Colombo, you will notice that a lot of people text while they walk, getting in our out of busses, or while crossing the road. I must admit, I have done it many times on my way to meetings and back. I have to openly say that I don’t advocate this bad habit as statistics show that it immensely increases the risk of an accident.

A new patent application filed by apple for “transparent texting” could be the solution to save us all from falling in to a newly dug up manhole down Galle road, or getting run over by an entourage of busses racing to the next bus stop while crossing the road. Apple’s idea is simple and makes me go “Damn, why didn’t I think of this first?”. Form what we hear it’s simply activating the back camera on the apple device to deliver a live feed to stream behind your text editor. So while looking at your screen you can see what’s in front of you on the screen. The text would be on a semi transparent text bubble. As a person who has had one or two trample dog poo type situations, due to texting while walking; I would say “brilliant idea apple!”.
